I have never used an Amazon Kindle but looking at their prices I see that they cost as much as some Notebook computers and they are more expensive than a lot of netbooks. What does a Kindle do that a comparable price notebook computer does not do? It seems to me that a cheaper netbook or notebook can do all that a KIndle would do but so much more. Please advise if you have experience with a Kindle.

I have a Mac pro laptop and my bestfriend has a hp pavilion entertainment PC windows vista. I tried to video chat with her using ichat but it didn’t work, all that worked was the audio, and her laptop has a built in webcam. I wanted to know if there was some kind of software that enables us to video chat and see and hear each other.
